Juan Camilo is a biologist; he has lived all his life in the countryside surrounded by nature. He was an environmental interpreter at the Matecaña Zoo in the city of Pereira; where he was able to reinforce his understandings of the natural world and was filled with the desire to make his professional career his way of life.
He studied at the University Corporation Santa Rosa de Cabal (UNISAR), where he has focused on the knowledge of amphibians, reptiles, birds and bats in the coffee area. He has been especially interested in snakes, an unknown endangered group, and is seeking to promote its conservation. He is a co-founder of the initiative: Serpents from dangerous to endangered.
